Gus
I couldn’t stop Gus talking about his leather bag. “Us Argentineans take leather goods seriously,” he says. Apparently it had been through the wars, and had struggled to find a good repairer here. “I’ve replaced the strap, and now the latch is broken. It’s never ending”, Gus laments. He is a tour guide.

Sami, Sydney
Samy is Milanese, having been in Sydney for a few months – and involved in both fashion and modelling. “Why would you ever leave a place like Milan?” I ask. “This part of the world makes such a refreshing change – so vibrant, fresh and new, it really is very cool.” Samy is thinking of checking out Melbourne to see what it has to offer. Only a Milanese could wear a top like this !

Andrea
You see these bags around and about a bit. Quite an arresting design - fairly stark and simple, but effective. There are always particular designs or symbols that do the rounds. I've always found it quite fascinating which ones are picked up in peoples minds. Really like this shirt, rolled up - cool!

5 x double passes...Diana Vreeland film
Post a comment below if you want a double pass to the film about fashion visionary Diana Vreeland. Open to those in New Zealand, and film opens in Rialto cinemas Nov 17 - so be in now!!
Diana Vreeland was a fashion visionary whose impact was legendary, influencing and creating the style of such icons as Twiggy, Jacqueline Onassis, Lauren Bacall and many others. Over the course of 25 years beginning in 1937, when she started writing for Harper’s Bazaar, Vreeland established herself as a controversial iconoclast with an astonishing ability to invent and discover fashion ideas, designers, personalities, and photographers. In the ‘60s Vreeland moved to become editor-in-chief at Vogue where she defined the fashion of the era. DIANA VREELAND: THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL guides us from Paris to New York to London and through Vreeland’s life, adventures, accomplishments and passions.
My wife has seen this film and she said it's a " must see. "
“Few names conjure ‘style’ with the zest of Diana Vreeland...the relish with which she championed creativity, fro Yves Saint Laurent to Mick Jagger, made her the oracle of style.” – Variety.
